“Don't be too polite Girls" is a 25min documentary film which uses archival materials to tell the story of two formidable women, who were integral to preserving, publishing and reviving early Australian social culture, music, stories and dances as well as the 1950-60's Australian folk music revival, Wendy Lowenstein, and Shirley Andrews.
After a short introduction, the film will be shown, followed by a Q&A with the film's producer Martie Lowenstein and filmmaker Richard Lowenstein, who are Wendy's daughter and son. They will cover the content of the film and the issues around its making, including access to and use of archives, and the editing process, plus issues such as funding and distribution for such projects.
