Dear Friends
The South East Asia Pacific Audiovisual Association (SEAPAVAA) virtual conference symposium (23-25 June) has now concluded, but the content is available online at https://www.facebook.com/seapavaa/videos
Items of particular note are:
- Opening Keynote by Linda Tadic on digital collection management in the context of global warming (Opening Ceremony Session)
- NFSA presentation by Nancy Eyers and Jacqui Uhlmann on the digital transformation journey of the NFSA (Session 2)
- Portrait of an archive on fire - Thailand by Sanchai Chitirosseranee (Session 3)
- NHK Japan presentation by Nobuki Yoshiyama (Session 5)
- Case study: Radio Transcription Disc Preservation by Joshua Harris (Session 7)
- Archival Gems - individual short films from member archives, including a fascinating 9.5mm amateur film contributed by ACMI (Melbourne) and a lyrical short on an unlikely subject from the Vietnam Film Institute
The Friends is a member of SEAPAVAA, and President Ray Edmondson presented on "Trophies and Scars" (Session 5) and participated in the concluding wrap up session.
The whole conference repays exploration. This is the regional archival community of which we are a part
Regards,
Sue
