The Friends of the NFSA has decided to join the 21st century and start a
blog. We plan to use it to share information with you about the Friends, the
National Film and Sound Archive, and other issues or events that we think
would be of interest to our members (and in fact to anyone interested in the
National Film and Sound Archive).
So let’s start with a question: What would you like to see the Friends
doing?
Post your suggestions to the blog. Please note that while you must provide a
valid email address when you first comment, it will not be displayed
publicly. You can use your real name or a fictional one for your comment
name.
Let the discussion begin!

Thanks for letting us know David ... I saw the documentary (finally) on him. Fascinating stuff.

South Australian J.P. McGowan (1880-1952) was Hollywood’s Railroad Man. His career spanned forty years of Hollywood, and earlier. film acting and directing. J.P. is the only Australian to have been made a Life Member of the Screen Directors Guild, now DGA (US).

Discerned early by Jeannette Delamoir and Albie Thoms as a remarkable character, McGowan has received little official notice. A tribudoc (not actually a bio) was fostered by the Adelaide Film Festival in 2011, but since then what?
Thanks for this David ... we'll keep an eye on it. And consider it for our next newsletter.
Cheers, Sue
