"DAD AND DAVE COME TO TOWN (1938)" - at CMAG - Friday 10 September at 2 pm

Bert Bailey stars as Dad Rudd in this entry in Cinesound's classic series of "Dad and Dave" comedies. The Rudd family inherits a fashion shop and moves to the city to take charge, installing daughter Jill (Shirley Ann Richards) as the manager. The film abounds in memorable moments, including Jill's "don't call me girlie" scene, a young Peter Finch nervously seeking Sally Rudd's hand in marriage, and - as always in the series - a serious scene where Dad Rudd reflects on his values, and his battle with a rival seeking to put the shop out of business.
